Dr. Curtis Murphy teaches in the UAA History Dept. At this event he analyzes political developments & the role of government from 1700-1900 by looking at the vibrant tradition of local self-government in Eastern Europe. Currently, he is working on a book concerning Enlightenment-era centralization policies & the dynamics of urban self-government in Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania,Russia.
