Collaborating on a Picture Book: Shirley Mae Springer Staten and Dianne Barske

What happens when singer/storyteller Shirley Mae Springer Staten and artist/illustrator Dianne Barske get together on a project? The result is The Oh-ee-O Story, the children's tale of Shirley Mae’s early family life on a former Southern plantation. At the monthly luncheon for Alaska Professional Communicators, both women will share stories of their collaboration, including the wild tale of chasing grandmothers through Town Square as Dianne searched for models to draw from.
